SUMMARY:Area 51 Accessibilities Workshop-Episode 4
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nMilitary as a Remote community: Staying Sober while on deployment.\nTom S. is the founding member of Warriors Heart in Texas. He joined the military in 1990 and retired in 2011. He got sober in 1992 with the help of a fellow warrior. He joined US Army Delta shortly after 9/11. Tom will share the challenges of 40 months of active combat while staying sober and battling the internal demons of war.\nWelcoming ALL newcomers: How to Remove Access Barriers to AA Meetings\nWhen a newcomer gets to their first meeting\, we want them to feel welcome. Many of the things we already do work great for many newcomers. But sometimes the newcomer will need a bit more help to access the meeting. It might mean knowing which meetings have childcare or finding a meeting with captioning for people with hearing loss or getting a ride.\nWhatever they need\, we want to provide. But many times\, we are stumped. Where are the resources they need to help them to keep coming back?Corbett O. will share her extensive knowledge of the many ways that AA meetings provide access so that ALL newcomers feel welcome.
